Initially I thought the price of this costume was a little steep, although I have received it and then worn it last Halloween I changed my mind. The quality of the material of the costume is not great, but again it's supposed to be pretty thin because what makes this costume fun to look at and wear are the tights. What makes this costume really stand out is the vibrant colors. The red is really red, and the blue is truly blue. None of the colors of this costume look washed out at all, unlike other Superman costume that I have seen that are cheaper in price. People also liked the fact that it came with a cape and that overall it really portrayed the Superman look. The muscle section of the costume can get hot to wear for extended times since it is made of rubber, but its only one day a year so its totally worth it.

"Meet the Beatles.....uhm Beetle" 2009-06-25

The Ted Kord version of the Blue Beetle is one of the more underappreciated characters in the DC Universe and it is exciting to finally see a major action figure of this neglected hero. This figure is well designed and the attention to detail is superb. For example, the goggles are well constructed and you can even see the eyes underneath. The Beetle comes with his "gun" (I was always amazed how many times in the old 1980s Blue Beetle series how many times he would pull it out and blind people with the strobe light in the gun) and he holds it very well. I am proud to have the Blue Beetle, along with his friend Booster Gold from the same wave of figures, guarding my bookshelf. It's a must have for any Blue Beetle fan.

"Finally a Blue Beetle" 2009-05-26

I've fairly recently gained an appreciation for this character as I like to call him "Bruce Wayne without the baggage!" He's the type of hero I think we'd all probably be if we had Daddy Warbucks dough lying around and of course an inclination to want to fight crime. This figure is very exceptional. Its probably the first major mass market release of BB and it delivers where it needs to. Standard superhero body sculpt, fair and useful articulation, excellent detail, clean paint apps in most instances. It has everything you'd expect in this field of product and nothing you don't need. He does come with a rather puny but neccessary "BB gun" which is a hoot if you read the statistics on what it "can do". Posing him in "gun toting spy" stances is probably one thing you'll enjoy doing with this figure and he looks great next to the other major heroes of the league. A recommended buy.

"Blue Beetle... Wait! Don't Step On Him!" 2009-05-07

This is Blue Beetle from wave 7 of the DC Universe Classics line. Ted Kord inherited the mantle of Blue Beetle and uses technology, wits and athleticism to fight crime as opposed to super powers. Earlier and later versions of Blue Beetle do use powers.

The figure is a solid, fun and visually impressive piece. Based on the standard DCU body he sports great articulation, ball joint neck, ball shoulders, pin elbows and his hands rotate, a tilt torso joint, cut waist joint, the great hip joints that allow forward and back and side to side movement without making the sculpt look funny like ball hips do, pin knees and ankles. In summary, a great amount to get plenty of cool super hero poses without over doing it or hindering the look of the figure.

It is a typical super hero body. However, the head sculpt with the yellow "bubble" style goggles really sells the figure. You can clearly see his eyes and the goggles themselves look terrific and are iconic for the character.

They've done a clean job on the paint with his blue on blue scheme. The beetle design on his chest is perfect and clean and even someone only slightly familiar with the character will recognize him. The black outline highlights look great. The only tiny area of slop at all is where they applied the yellow at the front of his belt. Otherwise the paint is perfect.

Last are accessories. He has his gun, which is a kind of fat but also futuristic affair - imagine Buck Rodgers' hair dryer maybe. It is silver with metallic blue knobs on each side and is kind of retro cool looking. It can be held in either hand. His belt has a holster in which to store the gun which is tailored for a perfect, if bulky, fit. It does have a strap clasp but I have not been able to successfully latch the tiny hole over the tiny soft peg to actually close it and don't want to force it and break it so I'm not sold on the functionality of the design there.

He also has a piece of Atom Smasher the collect and connect (read: build a figure) for this line. He's a big dude, about 9" tall, and sports great sculpt, articulation and paint all his own. He's worth it if you're interested in buying the entire line at all. If not then you'll have an extra arm or leg or head just hanging around.

Overall, a really good looking and fun figure with only the tiny bit of paint slop and non functional holder clasp holding it back from perfection.

"Retro blue & gray Batman costume - very cool" 2009-09-27

This figure is part of Mattel's new line of 3-3/4" action figures based on DC Comics heroes and villains. The toys are modeled after the classic comic book appearances of the characters, rather than any stylized cartoon show or recent film. Another thing that's cool about these figures is that they are the same scale as many other popular action figure lines (Star Wars, Marvel Universe, Indiana Jones, etc.) and all of these different characters can team up for playtime adventures.

I also like the back-to-basics approach of these DC figures. The toys have limited posability (like the action figures from days gone by), but they are made of a durable plastic and are built for fun. The figures have joints in the knees, hips, waist, elbows, shoulders, and neck. The shoulder joints are ball-and-socket joints, a nice upgrade for the otherwise old-school design.

But I enjoy these figures for their no-frills simplicity. No gimmicky armor or accessories. Just the hero/villain in his/her classic costume.

This Batman action figure (Series 1, Figure #34) comes in his retro outfit: gray tights, blue cape & cowl, and the yellow & black oval "Batman" symbol on his chest. This is the costume I grew up knowing and the figure looks great.

It is worth noting that this is the exact same figure as the other Batman (Series 1, Figure #11), but with a new paint job. But I think it is an improvement. (That figure had a gray & dark navy blue outfit with a large black bat across the chest.) I prefer this old-school paint job, but the sculpt of the head doesn't quite match. It's the same head from the other figure and it makes Batman look really tough. Almost mean, furrowed brow and all.

Batman's cape is made out of a rubbery material (glued on) and the rest of him is made out of a durable plastic. This should be safe for children and should withstand normal amounts of action.

I am a big supporter of these new toys, for their classic character depictions and simplistic yet fun designs. Many of your favorite superheroes are available, and Batman is one of the most important ones to add to your collection. I'd recommend buying this one (blue & gray), but that's just based on my own preferences.

"Pretty Bad Toy for the Price" 2009-03-25

If this figure was less expensive, it would have been slightly more tolerable. But with the price tag, I expected much much more. The figure can barely move, none of the accessiories fit any of his hands and worst of all it's so delicate that it broke the day I got it. I bought it and will keep it simply because it goes with my 1:6 Joker figure (which I bought first) but If I were to have bought this figure before The Joker, I probably would not have bought The Joker at all, due to my bad experiences with this figure.

This figure is pretty awesome. It is way better detailed than the one that came out for Batman Begins i.e. it actually looks like Christian Bale/Batman. The Suit is very nicely done looking very movie accurate with the armor rubber plates over a mesh kind of cloth underneath very similar to the movie unlike the Hot Toys version where the suit is all one piece of rubber material. The cape is poseable and has the "velvet" kinda of material for the outside and expands pretty wide just like if he were gliding in the movie. Poseblility of the figure its self is ok. That's probably the only place it falls short but other than that i like this figure better than the Hot Toys one, mainly because it costs way less. 5star figure!

"Very nice....but I expected more." 2009-01-02

Ok - the title of my review may put some people off but allow me to explain. I really like this figure....it is my first 1/6th scale collectible and I was very excited to purchase it and have someone from the US bring it for me. Here is what I like about it:

1. It looks very cool.

2. The details are quite authentic, including the likeness to Christian Bale. My wife disagrees but I think otherwise.

3. The figure appears to be quite durable and I don't think I will be damaging it in anyway anytime soon.

4. The cape is pose-able (has wires running on the sides).

5. A certificate of authenticity is included, which I felt was a nice touch. Can be framed, its on a nice parchment type thick paper.

Here are the bad points:

1. I don't like the velvety cape! Some other nice, thick material would have suited this caped crusader better.....Batman in velvet? Is he going to the Annual Gotham Ball or something?

2. I was under the impression that this figure was made by Hot Toys. Please note that I am not discrediting the shipper in anyway since there is no place where they claim that on the product page. The real issue is that DC Direct is now shipping the Hot Toys version, but were earlier on shipping their own version (the one I got!). I am not really sure what the articulation differences are, but the HT version comes with an extra head (Bruce Wayne without the Bat mask), 3 pairs of hands (I may be wrong!) and an activated mine. I have read raving reviews of the HT figure so I am not sure what exactly I may be missing in this one (except for the items mentioned above).

3. The figure may be heavily articulated (HT or otherwise) but the Batsuit's nature prevents the possibility of any real poses. Bend an arm here, flex the knees a bit....and that's about it.

4. There is a "pneumatic wrangler" included....call me ignorant but for the life of me I cannot recall how and when Batman used it. There is no documentation included with the figure to explain what goes where. I guess we are all supposed to use our own heads for that.

5. The "grappling launcher" looks very nice, but the only pair of hands that are NOT closed fists cannot "hold" the gun....I tried many times to close the fingers around the gun shaft but the fingers are not very articulate. The only other pair of hands are closed fists.

So overall, not bad. Just some points to take home:

1. This figure NOT made by Hot Toys, so only the one head (Batman mask on) and only one pair of extra hands (closed fists) plus no mine.

2. Velvet cape - not very nice.

3. Not very articulate.

Action figures come a long way. This one is almost life-like, down to every detail like pupils, lips and fingers. This is Batman as in the movie, The Dark Knight, and he is wearing a lighter suit with just protective pads as in the movie. It may not be to everyone's liking because given the suit is made of many pads, it looks very intricate and somewhat ugly and unclean as when the suit is one-piece. The cape is velvety and you can pretty much mold him in any position which is quite astonishing given he doesn't have any hideous-looking swivel screw joints. This looks almost as good as the statue and if you're a collector, you will know that is a compliment. It comes with the hydraulic claw you see at the beginning of movie, grappling gun, batarangs, cellphone (sonar), and extra set of hands. If you want a great piece of memorabilia from the hit movie, this is the item to get. Great and highly detailed for display, yet fun to play with!

My daughter is crazy about super heroes so I was thrilled to find a set that included two female figures for her. My disappointment though, is that like all other female heroes the figures are scantily dressed and make Barbie look flat chested. I would love to see a female action figure that encompasses strength and beauty without while wearing a costume that actually rivals that of her male counterparts. I know my daughter will enjoy playing with these, I'm just disappointed that this is how all the female super heroes that I see are portrayed.

"Abracadabra!! It's a Zatanna Mini-Bust" 2008-04-12

Last year, I purchased the Zatanna mini-bust (yes, I said mini-bust, not bust) from the ongoing "Women of the DC Universe" collection. I was thrilled with the fantastic sculpture in which the Justice League's resident, fun-loving sorceress is reaching into her magician's hat while her facial expression mischievously wonders what she'll find there. It's a perfect pose for the character.

Utilizing a magician's well-traveled trunk as the display base for the bust was a logical choice, as it stands perfectly flat on virtually any surface.

My only caution to prospective buyers is to first compare the mini-bust's actual size vs. the cost before making a decision. Specfically, it is somewhat deceptive that the bust appears bigger in promotional photos than it really is. If possible, you may want to check out any of the other "Women of the DC Universe" busts locally to adequately research your decision, as these mini-busts are all roughly the same size.

For me, though, I am thrilled that the Zatanna Zatara mini-bust is proudly displayed in my collection.

"Booooster Goooold!" 2009-05-07

This is Booster Gold from wave 7 of the DC Universe Classics line. A football player turned janitor (due to some bad choices) from the 25th century, Booster stole some technology from the museum he worked at and traveled back in time to become a popular super hero. Quite an interesting way to start a superhero career I've always thought but over time he has actually become an important and popular hero in the DC universe.

The figure is a solid, fun and visually impressive piece. Based on the standard DCU body he sports perfect articulation, ball join neck, ball shoulders, pin elbows and his fisted hands rotate, a tilt torso joint, cut hip joint, the great hip joints that allow forward and back and side to side movement without making the sculpt look funny like ball hips do, pin knees and ankles. In summary, a great amount to get plenty of cool super hero poses without over doing it or hindering the look of the figure.

While the body is your typical super hero body he sports 2 cool areas of sculpt. One is the head. The face looks great, they've done a very convincing job of giving him a tousled look to his hair and the yellow goggles look terrific. And second is that sculpted onto his right hand is his (stolen) Legion ring which is a nice touch. Note that there is a version with a big collar and one without. The collar looks nice what I've seen of it but I do not have that version so won't opine further.

They've done a pretty clean job on the paint and the metallic blue and yellow are really eye catching. The only issue on mine is that the blue point down on his *ahem* crotch is pretty sloppy. I'm sure that issue will vary.

Last are accessories. He has Skeets, his (stolen) robot pal who has all the historical info, attached to his back by an energy trail flying up to Booster's shoulder. He is not intended to be removable. He looks good and is gold with a blue visor/window. If you have the no collar version then you also get a different version of Skeets that opens up to reveal Mr. Mind inside. The controls inside Skeets are painted and the fact that they sculpted and pained a tiny green Mr. Mind in there (who is a caterpillar by the way) is cool. If you're wondering what he's doing in there I guess you'll have to read 52.

Booster also has a piece of Atom Smasher the collect and connect (read: build a figure) for this line. He's a big dude, about 9" tall, and sports great sculpt, articulation and paint all his own. He's worth it if you're interested in buying the entire line at all. If not then you'll have an extra arm or leg or head just hanging around.

Overall, a really good looking and fun figure.

"Boosteriffic Action Figure" 2009-04-06

The DC Universe figure of Booster Gold and his robot companion Skeets is an excellent likeness of one of the more underused DC characters. Booster and Skeets are modeled after the most recent comic series. The figure is very detailed and durable. It's a must have for all Booster fans.

"The Greatest Hero the World Will Never Know" 2009-03-20

If you are looking at this page, then you know who Booster is, so there is no need for me to go over his history, lets just skip to the review.

Booster comes in the standard DC Universe Box in a wonderful flight pose.

Booster has had one other figure recently, the DC direct figure. I will be using this as a comparison.

While the Direct version has Booster with a 80s yellow coloring (very bright), this figure has a more modern gold paint up, perhaps slightly too dark for some but I believe works perfectly. The blue is metalic on both figures. The goggles are perfectly done, as they do not make the figure's eyes appear strange as they have on some figures in this line. While the Direct figure has washed out blonde hair, like a surfer, this figure has the updated darker blond from the recent comic series.

Booster stands just as tall as a normal DC Direct figure, slightly taller than some of the Universe figures (which makes sense, as Booster is 6 foot 5 in the comics).

The paint...we all know there have been problems. The metalic blue is the base paint, and I foung three cases of minor paint problems: the blue peaking through on the arm, a slight smudge on his right check, and a slight smudge on his left arm. Not enough, however to draw attention to themselves.

Booster has amazing articulation. Neck, shoulders, foearm, elbow, wrist, waist, torso, hips, knees, calves and ankles all rotate. Booster can do the splits, people.

Booster's accessory is Skeets. Let me warn you now, Skeets isn't like the Direct version, which was free standing. He is connected to Booster by a yellow energy trail (similar to would one would see in the comics). A bit annoying that it can't be plugged in and out, but not enough to make you turn away from the figure.

There are two versions of Booster, the modern and the classic , or collared, version. The Modern Skeets has a fun surprise: open his face plate to reveal Mr. mind. However, this does lead to the door not shutting completely tight. Again, however, not the biggest deal in the world, especially if you keep the door open.

In the end, this figure is wonderful. i have him standing next to my classic Booster figure, and it really shows the evolution from the 80s to now for the character.

I am a huge Sgt. Rock fan, since my 'yute' (back in the 70's), so i picked this up on a whim during a Comic Day sale (i got it at 40% off) - i am displaying it on my shelf, in the box (because face it, whether you pay $60 or $100 for a figure like this, are you inclined to take it out of the box and risk wrecking it? i didn't think so). It's a pretty nice figure - appears relatively durable, the clothes (with tattered shirt), facial features and weapons/accessories are nicely detailed (though the chest looks a bit weird, due to the need to put a pivot joint where the abs are). Too bad they didn't have one of these that was smaller and cheaper when i was a kid, but this is a nice item for any fan of Rock to have (even though i'm pushing 40). Chicks will be appalled to see this on my shelf, next to my V For Vendetta mask and Watchmen figures, but that's their problem.

This has to be on of DC's best looking pieces. The detail is striking, once you get it out of the box, you cant stop looking at it. I did notice some painting slip ups by the boots of superman, but hey, thats what a hand painted piece is all about. Cant say it enough is probably DC's best piece so far. If your in to these statues like myself, pick this one up, you wont be disappointed.

"The Gentleman Ghost" is a fun DC character who has plagued the Justice Society, Hawkman and too many other heroes to keep track of. I was amused when I heard that Mattel had added him to the DC Universe series and wondered if there would be much of an audience for the figure and how it would be done. All in all, it is a wonderfully designed figure with well detailed top hat, monocle, 19th century garb and flintlock pistol. The top hat and monocle are ingeniously held by the hood of his cloak. All in all, a clever and well designed figure. Highly recommended to DC fans.

Earth 2 Superman Black Lantern is a grisly character. Not to get too into geek babble but This Superman was the main Superman in Pre-Crises continuity before being replaced by the current continuity's Superman. He came back, he died and now, like a lot of dead characters in the DC universe he's back as an undead Black Lantern. Whew!

For Kids:

If your kid likes Superman and zombies then this might be the ticket. Otherwise I doubt many youngsters will know what's going on with this guy. That plus the limited "collector" type articulation make him not a very kid friendly toy.

For Adults:

The basic idea of a Black Lantern is a body brought back to life (un-life?), corrupted and used for nefarious purposes. Well this guy certainly looks corrupted. The skin on his arms and face is craggy, gnarled and rotted looking. His hair is scraggly and he's got a toothy snarl on his face. He's got a large and solid "comic book style" body. His torso is sculpted in a hunched over and to the side position giving him even more of a zombie look. The cape is a modified affair separated into 5 distinct sections as opposed to one solid cape and it's really dynamic looking.

The paint work is very clean. The overall costume is black with sweeping white lines and a white Superman "S" shield on the chest. It's all very cleanly done. The cape is white on the outside, black on the inside. His skin is a sickly white and he has dark eyes. I can't really pick out any spot in the paint that's a problem.

For articulation he's got a ball neck allowing some tilt and side to side, ball shoulders, single pin elbows, cut wrists that rotate, his legs move forward at the hip, he has a cut in each thigh (well hidden by the uniform) and single pin knees. So 13 points isn't too bad but there are still some critical joints that could make pose-ability much better. Some waist articulation, cuts on the upper arms, ankle articulation and more range in the neck joint would go a long way. I realize this is a collector line but I still argue that I've seen this quality sculpt and paint not hindered by more robust articulation in other collector lines.

The only accessory here is his black stand with white Black Lantern symbol. Using it allows for slightly more pose possibilities as you don't have to worry about overbalancing him and he's already off balance due to his bad posture.

So, my gripes about the articulation aside, he does look great in sculpt and size, he's got a cool cape and the paint is spot on. Due to his more extreme zombie like appearance and posture he's even a little scary. So he looks great if that's what you're looking for. I'm going with 4 stars overall but would go down to 3 ½ if I had to think about articulation and pose-ability too much.

"DC Universe Classics Presents: Adam Strange & Starfire" 2009-03-03

Like another reviewer, I purchased my internet-exclusive duo of Adam Strange and Starfire from Matty.com. I, too, had a mixed reaction as to what the actual figures looked like compared to their initial promotional photos. I'll review the figures one at a time, but I will say that the packaging is pretty solid with their character bio displays on the back side of the box.

Let's start with Adam Strange. While he certainly isn't my favorite character per se, his figure looks exactly like what one would hope for. His red, yellow, and white paint job is excellent, and the sculpting appears just right. While I can't honestly specify his articulation points, Adam Strange can at least stand up indefinitely without a support base with a minimal number of poses. Overall, I am satisfied that I would have purchased one on first sight for a decent price. He definitely fits in the Buck Rogers space hero archetype of looking ready to blast off in his rocket suit with a gun blazing. Grade: 9/10.

Starfire, however, is an unfortunate disappointment. I expected the figure to be taller or, better yet, an updated sculpting of the excellent DC Direct rendition from some years ago. Instead, this figure is exceptionally frail, as one of her flimsy forearms actually fell off just after I opened the package. While the forearm was easily re-attached, I certainly wasn't impressed with the less-than-stellar durability DC Classics put forth here. The paint job is okay, as the purple may bleed a little on to her orange skin tone, and there is only minimal detail to her trademark purple armored suit. As for articulation points, again, I couldn't really say, but Starfire will need a support base (not included) or be propped up in order to stand indefinitely. Suffice to say, the promotional picture makes the actual figure look far better than its reality. Grade: 6/10.

Overall, while I wouldn't discourage anyone from purchasing this combo set, my word of advice is to contemplate the total cost before making your final decision. Ultimately, I think DC Universe Classics was a bit lazy here, but maybe they will be up to the task next time.

Overall Grade: 7.5/10.

"Adam Strange / Starfire a Must Have For Collectors" 2009-03-01

The successful DCU: Classics line from Mattel will see it's first online-exclusive figures released soon. The 2-pack, available only at MattyCollector.com, features fan-favorites Adam Strange and Starfire.

Strange, the Earth scientist turned protector and savior for the space planet Rann comes equipt with his trademark space pistol. Starfire (Princess Koriand'r from Tamaran) who is best known for her role as Teen Titan and love interest of Dick Grayson, comes sans weapon. But both figures are packaged in 'flying' poses within a white cover box with the DC Universe Logo on the

front. For those who like to display their figures Mint on card, the outer box will help keep the package safe during shipping.

At first glance, an intergalactic protector and a space princess Teen Titan make a strange (no pun intended) pair. However those familiar with the DC Comics hit-series "52" will know that these two (along with Animal Man - sadly not included in this set) spent the year following Infinite Crisis battling the evil Lady Styx and her minions. Following their space battle with Lady Styx the two would further their adventures in the Countdown Limited Series "Countdown to Adventure" when Lady Styx threatened to take over the planet Earth.

Now personally, I'd rather have Animal Man in the two pack. Starfire is one that would sell really well at retail where Animal Man might not. And since the Matty figures are suppose to be more for the collector than those in mass retail I just don't understand, but regardless the two pack is nice.

As I mentioned earlier, the figures come shipped inside of a white protective outer-box but the the main package is in the same style as the rest of the DC universe line. Perfect for displaying. The window of the box wraps around the sides as to show not only the front of the figures but also the sides. Of course there are also the air holes on the side as to let the figures breathe.

The backside shows both figures and as the biography and statistics for them. Now I do have a few problems with the box. First, it's to big. Maybe it wouldn't cut down on production costs to much, but there is a good inch or inch and a half of wasted space between the top and the bottom. The back side is also a little annoying. You have this big box yet the Biography and statistics are smaller compared to those on the mass production line. There is just a lot of wasted space.

Inside of the packaging, both figures are displayed in 'flying poses'. While poses inside packages are nice when displaying, most people have found the figures to be warped after removing them. This was unfortunately the case with the Starfire I was given to review. Once out of the box, she is bow legged and looks like she needs a cowboy hat and boots. I've not been able to straighten it out yet, however I've read that by sticking it in boiling water, straighten it then sticking it in cold water will fix the problem.

As a whole the Starfire figure needs some work. She uses the Harley Quinn body which just doesn't quite work for her. The Wonder Woman body might have been a better fit. Starfire has 21 points of articulation; they are Neck (1), Shoulders (2), Elbows (2), Wrists (2), Hips (2), Knees (2), Boots (2), and Ankles (2). The paint job on her is really good. The only bad spot I saw was on her left leg, which can't be noticed without holding her close to you. Over all, this figure is also a must have. If not because it is a collector's piece, but she helps to add to the Teen Titans roaster.

Adam Strange has the basic male body. He also has 21 points of articulation; they are Neck (1), Shoulders (2), Elbows (2), Wrists (2), Hips (2), Knees (2), Boots (2), and Ankles (2). The paint job on the figure I received is pretty good. There are a few smudges around the face and on the legs; however you have to be up close to see them. Adam comes with his signature pistol that can be removed and holstered. Overall, this is a solid figure and a must have for any true collector.

Over all this two pack is a good 8 out of 10. It's a must have for collectors and adds to your collection.

"Somewhat of a mes..." 2009-02-01

I jumped at the chance to get this set as soon as it became available on the Matty site. $25 for two exclusive figures isn't too bad of a deal, but when the shipping charges make it over $30, it's a little hard to justify the cost when you see the product in hand. Adam Strange is pretty decent--it's nice to have a more modern version of this obscure character. However, I bought the set mainly to have a modern version of Starfire (I have the classic version DC Direct made several years ago). It was my plan to start building up a collection of the original Titans group in their current incarnation. But after inspecting Mattel's new Starfire figure, I'm inclined to abandon those plans.

The figure is severely off-scale, even with other DC Universe Classics figures. Starfire is supposed to be tall and regal--if you look at the comics version, she towers over all the other Titans. Here she stands a lot shorter than the other figures in the line. Plus, the paint job is rather sloppy, with the purple on her costume bleeding into the orange of her skin. There are no sharp lines of contrast between costume and skin, either, and there is a lack of detail in her body armor (etchings and designs, etc.).

So far, Mattel's line has been a little hit and miss. More hit than miss, though. It's just frustrating that DC characters who hardly ever get any attention in the action figure department end up being so disappointing.

"Pricey, but a neat memento of the movie" 2009-06-30

The Comedian's Guns and Dog Tag mock-prop display is a neat piece of memorabilia from the movie - if you're really into Watchmen (as i am), you might want this for your collection - i'm hanging mine in my screening room. The case is pretty sturdy (feels like wood) and relatively heavy, with a plexi-type clear front. The pistols look like Army 45's and have the smiley face logo on the handles. The drawback to them (for me) is that they didn't seem hugely detailed as i would've liked, PLUS they are half-casts (that is, the guns are not actually two complete guns, but rather halves as it helps them fit neatly in the case); there are also a set of Edward Blake's (the Comedian's real name) dog tags plus a presentation medallion (from Richard Nixon) to Blake, contained in the case. It looks just like the one in the movie. The whole case is decent sized (see listing for dimensions) and has two small clips on the back that are screwed in (which i hope won't weaken over time - i am putting picture wire thru them, to hang it on the wall) and there are also two very sturdy 'legs' that hinge-out if you want to put this on your credenza (which might be a better option). Overall, a bit pricey but limited to 1000 pieces; i got a good deal on mine so i don't regret what i paid.

Was at a Toys R' Us today looking at one. I couldnt buy it because the film isn't released for a couple more days, but I got a chance to inspect some that were already on the shelves. Everything looks fantastic. The figure is only movable in a few areas, but that's not a big deal as it's meant as a collectible. The face looked great, which i guess is supposed to remain hidden until March 6th. Came with his grappling gun, and an interchangable right hand that can hold it. Also came with a base. Supposedly only 5,000 available, so i'm going to pick one up as soon as I can.

Very pleased (espeically since they didnt change his costume at all from the graphic novel!)

I've never been a Titans fan, but I'd have to say that Cyborg is the most impressive of the Super Friends line. The details and paint of the figure are great. He's a really unique character. They could have gone with Robin or something tried and true, and it's nice that they took a gamble. It's a hard to find figure, but definitely a cool one. The ball blaster accessory works well and it's nice that it has a kickstand for displaying the figure.

Dr. Impossible is a recent creation in the DC Universe and it is hard to imagine that this figure would not have been made had the collection not had a Mr. Miracle figure ready to go. The figure is not as detailed as some of the more recent figures in the series and does not have the accessories that have come with a number of the figures. It's hard to think there is much demand for a Dr. Impossible figure. He has been a minor JLA bad guy who claims to be Mr. Miracle's brother. Fans of the JLA and Mr. Miracle will of course appreciate the figure but I imagine that the average comics fan will not be putting Dr. Impossible at the top of their wish lists.
